Sydney Botanic Gardens
Sydney Botanic Gardens in Australia is well worth a visit. Check out the link on my blog page. One of the gardeners at the Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin, Dublin spent a little over a year on a work exchange in RBGSYD. He enjoyed the different climate and the different culture. The Wollemi Pine (Wollemi nobilis) - sample specimens of this extemely rare conifer are on display in the gardens. Described as a 'dinosaur tree' or 'living fossil' the Wollemi Pine is undoubtedly one of the greatest botanical discoveries of our time. Even the adventurous story about finding this rare tree are reason enough to visit the gardens home page (read all about the discovery) or better still if you are going 'down under' why not pop into the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney and look at the real thing!
