Future Gardeing Topics to be discussed

The following is a list of interesting gardeing topics which I will discuss in due course:

  • Baldoyle Racecourse - over 20,000 new housing units to be built there. Apparently little or no planning for green belt, park or allotments!
  • More 'highrise development' in and around Dublin means only communal gardens &/or roof gardens
  • New homes with a shared communal garden. Reason = more building space or less space for gardens. Hopefully better designed gardens with more plant variety
  • Landscapers & their 'canon of relaible plants' which equate to uninspiring planting schemes in both domestic & commercial gardens
  • Diarmuid Gavin is the opposite to this narrow view. His inspiring garden designs are a model for future garden designers
  • Where & when did the idea of gardening & design originate? History lesson.
  • Garden or landscape design software - a review
  • Best time of year to sow grass seed or lay lawn turf
  • Special turf that only grows to a specified height. Used in golf courses
  • How best to improve a clay soil
  • Where to purchase good quality topsoil
  • Damp shady area with very wet soil - appropriate plants to grow
  • How best to deal with briars growing into your garden from neighbours garden
  • The Arum Lily - Zantedeschia aethiopica. Plant of the week
  • Yucca Filamentosa 'Bright Edge'
  • Hebe Pinguifolia 'Pagei'
  • Explore these plants. Where do they originate? How are they used in garden design today?
